MEET OUR THERAPISTS
Isabel Acevedo, LCPC, CPAIP
Isabel Acevedo is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and Certified Partner Abuse Intervention Professional (CPAIP) in the state of Illinois. She has experience as a therapist in a wide variety of treatment settings. She has worked in outpatient mental health clinics, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, and in the private sector. Isabel has worked in the field since 2012. Isabel has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Texas and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University.
Isabel is fluent in English and Spanish. She has experience helping children, adolescents, adults, and families to reach their potential. She has worked extensively in the Hispanic community utilizing her language and knowledge of the culture to connect ethnologically. Isabel has also worked for many years in crisis intervention and partner abuse. Throughout her work, she has practiced developing a strong therapeutic accord with her clients to ensure that they feel safe and understood. She is skilled at collaborating with individuals in trauma recovery, and physical and sexual abuse. Isabel uses many therapeutic approaches and tools to aid clients in healing, identifying unproductive beliefs and limiting behaviors, and discovering self-worth. Isabel supports her clients in building upon their strengths to help them overcome emotional obstacles.
Allison Hanley, LCPC, CADC
Allison Hanley is a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) and certified alcohol and other drug counselor (CADC). She is a graduate of The Adler School of Psychology in Clinical Psychology and holds a Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University of Chicago.
Allison’s clinical experience includes therapy with children, adolescents, adults, and families, specializing in grief and loss, oncology and end of life counseling, and substance abuse counseling. Among her areas of expertise are anxiety, depression, life transitions, and child and adolescent behavioral management.
Allison practices a solution focused, client-centered strength-based approach, incorporating a focus on relaxation and mindfulness to promote mental well-being. With support, compassion and understanding, Allison creates a safe, caring, accepting environment to help individuals build upon their strengths, learn healthy ways of coping, and attain personal growth.
Lisa Schultz, Intern
Lisa is finalizing her master’s degree of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Concordia University Chicago, graduating in December of 2019. She holds an undergraduate B.S. in family and individual development from Northern Illinois University and an A.A. from William Harper Rainy College in Palatine Illinois. Lisa’s previous experience with trouble shooting along with her keen eye for patterns and meta-analysis were developed within the banking and accounting industry before pivoting towards her hearts true passion. She has worked with at risk youth and adolescents, while volunteering in advocate, educational and mentoring roles.
Lisa embraces an attachment based developmental orientation when working with individuals, couples, families and children. She utilized multiple modalities but is enthusiastic about narrative and play therapy. Lisa’s professional desire is to be able to hold other’s stories well, while growing in the art of presence and healing.
Lisa loves going on adventures with her family. She indulges play through kayaking, hiking, biking and skiing. Lisa enjoys reading, learning to play the piano, and practicing martial arts.

As a parent and lifelong Barrington community member, I see incredible importance in the mission of BYFS. As a nonprofit professional, the opportunity to work alongside community leaders and board members to help shape the vision of this great organization and the impact it will have on our families and community is exciting. I am honored to be trusted with this role.
My professional experience includes nonprofit management and marketing and communications for multiple professional societies and volunteer-run organizations; corporate sales and marketing, and social work in group home settings.
I am a mom to two wonderful children, Ellie (14) and Harry (8), married to a fabulous man (Harry) and owner of two happy hounds.

Betsy Wintringer, Executive Director
Anne Baumfeld, Director of Special Projects
Anne is BYFS' Director of Special projects where she delivers project management, strategic planning and implementation support for key organizational initiatives.
Along with a passion for service and community, Anne brings considerable experience and expertise to the role, having held several leadership and development roles at domestic and international non-profit organizations before joining BYFS in April 2018. She also served as Treasurer of BYFS' Auxiliary Board from 2016-2018.
Anne holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame and a Master's degree in Public Administration from New York University. She lives in Barrington with her husband, three children and two terriers.
Kiran Birdi, Office Manager
Kiran joined BYFS in November of 2018 and brings with her over a decade of customer service experience as well as several years of management experience working as a Practice Manager at a psychiatrist’s office here in Barrington.
Kiran oversees office operations and is committed to making our patients', and their families', experience at BYFS a positive one. She encourages a work environment that provides excellent customer service to clients, outside professionals as well as internal clinicians with her positive attitude and friendly demeanor.
Born and raised in England UK, Kiran graduated from the University of Wolverhampton with a Bachelor’s degree in Law. She moved to the US in 1999 and resides in the Northwest Suburbs with her husband, daughter, and two sons.
